Cornish surfers fade at Fistral

Stokes is knocked out of Boardmasters
Stokes was eliminated in his second heat

Cornwall's two remaining surfers have been knocked out of the Boardmasters competition at Fistral beach.

Newquay's Alan Stokes and Jayce Robinson from St Ives, failed to capitalise on their early success.

They both finished last in their second-round heats at England's richest surfing tournament.

"I'm a bit disappointed but it's a hard contest, everybody surfs really well. But it was fun while it lasted," Stokes told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"There's a lot of luck involved and I just picked the wrong waves."

There were near perfect waves on the second day of the contest.

The top seeds made the most of the conditions showing off their vast array of competition manoeuvres including powerful re-entries and cutbacks.
