England retain world team title

England retained the World Men's Team Squash Championship by fighting back to beat Australia 2-1 in Chennai, India.

The defending champions took the title for the sixth time, despite Australia's David Palmer beating Nick Mathew 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-2, 4-11 in the opener.

James Willstrop levelled the final with an 11-8, 11-7, 11-10 (2-0) win over Stewart Boswell and Peter Barker then beat Cameron Pilley 11-6, 11-3, 11-8.

"I am really elated on having defended the title," said coach David Pearson.

"James and Peter played to par and were able to weave excellent wins. Team game is always edgy and all is good when it ends well."
