The IOC have warned Beijing to slow down construction for 2008 |
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is meeting with Chinese officials to assess Beijing's preparations for the 2008 Games. The four-day talks in the country's capital will cover many issues from ticketing to the Olympic torch relay.
The visit is the IOC coordination commission's fifth to Beijing.
On their last trip in May, commission members urged Beijing to slow down construction as finishing too early would lead to higher maintenance costs.
Unlike the 2004 Olympics in Athens, where contractors worked until the last minute to finish the sports venues, China has raced ahead with an aggressive construction timetable.
This time, the commission is expected to focus on Beijing's coordination with other Chinese cities co-hosting some of the sporting events.
Members will also inspect the eastern port city of Qingdao, which will host the sailing competition.
