Britain's Nick Skelton saw his chances of landing a final-day double at the London International Horse Show dashed by Marcus Ehning and Sandro Boy. Skelton opened Monday's performance by clearing 6ft 4ins to win the Christmas Eve Six Bar on Russel.
But he was edged into second spot in the London 2012 Grand Prix - when Ehning bettered his and Arko III's time of 37.45 seconds by 0.40 seconds.
The win ensured the German carried off Olympia's leading rider trophy.
Earlier, rising British star Ellen Whitaker put her two famous uncles John and Michael in the shade when she outmanoeuvred them to win the Farewell Speed Stakes.
The 18-year-old came out second to set a sizzling pace of 50.10 on AK Quinten which could not be bettered by the remaining 23 competitors.

Relative John came closest, clocking 50.84 on Lactic 2. Michael was fourth on Renzerin vd Rampaarden in 53.23.
Ellen Whitaker was the youngest rider at Olympia this year and she admitted she had to work hard for her first victory at the famous event.
"My horse is quite difficult. He can be like two different horses - it's all down to me because if I don't ride him properly he goes badly," she said.
John Whitaker added: "I knew Ellen was very fast . She is unbelievably competitive - sometimes too much so!
"But it's difficult to tell someone off for trying."
