Tweddle wins silver in Birmingham
Beth Tweddle
Tweddle had a disappointing Olympics
Britain's Beth Tweddle won silver in the women's asymmetric bars at the artistic gymnastics World Cup Final.

She was just 0.013 of a mark behind America's Memmel Chellsie, who took gold, while Li Ya of China won bronze.

"It's always going to be a little bit disappointing not to have won gold with it being so close," said Tweddle who competes in the floor event on Sunday.

"But I've got to be really pleased with that performance as it was the first time for that new routine."

The two-day event features a quality line up of Olympic stars, including Romania's Catalina Ponor who won two golds in Athens.

In other action on Saturday, Brazil's Diego Hypolito won the men's floor, Dutchman Yuri Van Gelder took gold on the rings, Xiao Qin of China won the pommel horse and Alicia Sacramone (USA) finished first in the women's vault.

The other two Brits who competed on Saturday were the twice British Men's Champion Ross Brewer, 7th on Pommels and David Massam, 8th on Rings.

The competition consists of five straight apparatus finals on each day.
