Ponor takes her gold medal tally to three in the Games |
Romania's Catalina Ponor celebrated double success in the women's beam and floor exercise on Monday. The 17-year-old beat the USA's all-round champion Carly Patterson and team-mate Alexandra Eremia in the beam with a score of 9.787 points.
And an awesome display of tumbling earned her a score of 9.750 points to beat Nicoleta Daniela Sofronie and Spain's Patricia Moreno on the floor.
Ponor also won gold in the women's team event earlier in the Games.
Chinese pair Zhang Nan and Li Ya had been expected to challenge for medals, but both gymnasts fell off the beam moments after mounting the four-inch apparatus.
