England defender Jon Bleby has announced his retirement from international hockey. The Loughborough Students player made just six appearances in three years but had been named in England's squad for this week's matches against Belgium.
The 26-year-old wants to devote his time to completing a Masters degree and to his career in the fitness industry but will still play for Loughborough.
His place in the squad has been taken by Brett Garrard.
"Jon has removed himself from consideration because he is concentrating on work," said acting coach Jason Lee.
"Jon has been a fantastic member of the programme and he has trained immaculately for years now."
