Todd Cooper and Rebecca Cooke set new British records at the Olympic trials at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Cooper turned ahead of James Hickman in the 100m butterfly and held on to win in a time of 52.46 seconds as both booked places on the British team.

Cooke broke Sharron Davies' 24-year-old record in the 400m individual medley, touching in a time of four minutes, 46.79 seconds.

But that was outside the automatic qualifying time for the Athens Games.

Ian Edmond, Katy Sexton and Alison Sheppard, meanwhile, did enough to book their places, Sheppard joining an elite list of five-time attendees of swimming's biggest event.

In the women's 100m butterfly, Georgina Lee, 22, lowered her British record by 0.29 seconds with a time of 59.45, just 0.03 inside the Olympic Games standard.
