EUROPEAN SWIMMING
Britain's Rebecca Cooke took silver in the 400m freestyle
Cooke lost out on the gold medal by 0.76secs
Joanne Jackson and Rebecca Cooke completed a one-two for Britain in the women's 400m freestyle at the European short-course championships.

Seventeen-year-old Jackson clocked a time of four minutes, 4.04 seconds to clinch Britain's third gold in Dublin.

Cooke, second in Friday's 800m freestyle, took another silver in a time of 4:04.80.

Alison Sheppard added to the British gold tally, winning the 100m individual medley in 1:01.19.

Double Olympic champion Pieter van den Hoogenband won the 100m freestyle but just missed out on setting a new world record.

The Dutchman was 0.34 seconds inside record pace at the 50m mark but finished in 46.81 secs, just 0.07 seconds outside the mark of 46.74 set by Alexander Popov of Russia in Gelsenkirchen, Germany in 1994.

Italians Filippo Magnini (47.32) and Christian Galenda (47.77) took the silver and bronze medals.
