Great Britain lead after the dressage phase of the European Eventing Championships at Punchestown in Ireland. Britain lead by 10 penalties from France, with Italy, Germany, Belgium and Sweden bringing up the next positions.
Ireland are 45 penalties adrift of the leaders and out of contention.
Britain's Pippa Funnell, winner of the last two individual titles, is in fourth place with Walk On Star.
France's Nicolas Touzaint is the new leader on Galan de Sauvagere.
He is the only rider to record a sub-30 score.
Germany's Bettina Hoy on Ringwood Cockatoo is second, 1.8 penalties clear of first-day leader Susanna Bordone of Italy, riding Ava.
Funnell's team-mates William Fox-Pitt (Moon Man), Leslie Law (Shear l'Eau) and Jeannette Brakewell (Over To You), are 10th, 12th and 25th respectively.
The two British individual entries, Mary King (King Solomon III) and Kristina Cook (Captain Christy), are ninth and 15th in the 59-strong field.
