Nottingham Panthers have confirmed that former Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Jim Paek will be returning to Lace City next season.

Korean-born Paek made more than 200 appearances in the NHL, and was part of the Pittsburgh side that won the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992.

Paek, 35, re-joined Nottingham in January from Anchorage Aces in the West Coast Hockey League.

Panthers coach Paul Adey said: "Jimmy is a very experienced defenceman.

"He is always in great position, is a leader within the team and is a true professional in every way.

"We are extremely pleased to have him back in the line-up - he's as good as they come."

Nottingham general manager Gary Moran added: "Jimmy oozes class.

"Having sorted out some key signings up front, the goaltending, and now Jimmy I'm sure Paul will continue to work on building around what looks to be a great team.

"We have big hopes. You only have to look at the reactions of our rivals to know we are doing something right."
