| Bond wins close final Bond has now won two ranking tournaments in a row Ian Bond sealed victory in the Bupa Care Homes Open in Blackpool, beating Greg Harlow in a tie-break shoot-out. The 28-year-old dominated the opening set, winning 7-4. But fellow England international Harlow rallied to take the second 8-6, forcing a deciding end tie-break. Bond, who is ranked number 15 in the world, said: "I wasn't too nervous at that prospect. "I had won my previous three games all on tie-breaks and I really enjoy that sort of situation. Harlow left space after his opening two bowls and Bond stepped in to draw a couple of inches in front of the jack. When Harlow failed to remove it with his next two deliveries, the title was Bond's. Harlow said: "I didn't get any of my first two bowls close enough, particularly in the opening set. "I was really fighting an uphill battle because of that." In February, Bond won the inaugural WBT Players Championship at County Antrim, beating Scotland's Alex Marshall in an exciting final. |
