Seeds continue to fall
Wales' Rob Weale in action
Number five seed Robert Weale is out
There will be no seeded players in the semi-finals of bowls' Bupa Carehomes Open after Wales internationals John Price and Robert Weale both lost on Friday.

Number three seed Price went down to Devon's Ian Bond in a tie-break.

Price recovered from a set-down and 2-0 down to push his match into a shoot-out decider.

But the England international ran the jack into the ditch and followed it through with his bowl to lie an unbeatable shot.

Grateful

Number five seed Weale was beaten by Cardiff's Jason Greenslade, again on a deciding shoot-out.

Greenslade took the opening set 5-2, but Weale hit back to take the second 10-5.

On the deciding end shoot-out, Weale failed to get within three feet of a displaced jack with his final bowl.

That left a grateful Greenslade to draw the shot and seal his semi-final place.

Thrilling comeback

Twice former world champion Andy Thomson won nine successive ends against Aussie Alan Thurlow.

Thomson took the opening set 8-1 and moved 4-0 ahead in the second.

But the man from the Gold Coast finished with a burst of three, two and one to take the set 6-4.

He went on to take the shot on the tie-break shoot-out.

"I felt in total control and can hardly believe I've lost it. I played one bad end and that allowed Alan back into it," said Thomson.

A delighted Thurlow described his performance as "a real Houdini act".
