Canadian wrestling great Christine Noordhagen missed out on a chance of an Olympic medal in the 72kg division. Noordhagen was pushed off the stage in her first bout against China's Wang Xu, who will take on Japan's Kyoto Kamaguchi in the semi-final.
The winner will face Svetlana Sayenko of the Ukraine or Russia's Gouzel Maniourova for the gold medal.
Stavroula Zygouri will lead Greek hopes in the semi-final of the 63kg when she faces American Sara McMann.
