Track cyclist Jobie Dajka has appealed against being dropped from Australia's Olympic team for Athens. The country's Olympic committee (AOC) president John Coates said the 2002world keirin champion would have a hearing within two days in Sydney.
"We received a fax and an appeal panel will be appointed to hear the case," said Coates.
Dajka admitted lying to a doping inquiry and is charged for bringing the sport into disrepute.
Dajka had initially denied injecting any substances in the room of former team-mate Mark French.
But he was forced to backtrack after tests found traces of his DNA on vials and syringes discovered in a waste bin.
There is no suggestion that Dajka used any banned substances but, under Australian Olympic Committee rules, athletes can be expelled for bringing the team into disrepute.
Should Dajka win his appeal then the Olympic berth of his replacement, Ben Kersten, would be in doubt.
