Thomas eyes flyweight crown
| | France's Jerome Thomas overcame awkward Uzbek southpaw Tulashboy Doniyorov 25-16 to take a step closer to the Olympic flyweight title. Thomas will fight Fuad Aslanov in the semi-finals after the Azerbaijani beat Andrzej Rzany of Poland 24-23. Meanwhile, the dangerous Yuriorkis Gamboa Toledano of Cuba outpointed Georgy Balakshin of Russia 26-18. He now faces Rustamhodza Rahimov of Germany who comfortably defeated Namibia's Paulusu Ambunda 28-15.
