Halksworth came third in the 2007 Jersey Triathlon Open. |
Jersey triathlete Daniel Halksworth came home 31st in the men's elite class at the Mazda London Triathlon. He finished in one hour 52 minutes 55 seconds, a three minute improvement on his time at last year's event. Halksworth, who came to the sport from a swimming background, said he found the swim section particularly tough. "The swim was awful," he told the BBC, "It was so messy I was getting punched around everywhere. I was just trying to get out of the water in one piece." He managed to catch the lead pack on the cycle, but lost out when a competitor in front of him fell off his bike. "I had to go round the guy and I just got dropped and that was it for me really." Halksworth, who won silver in the triathlon at the 2007 Island Games, was pleased to better his time at his second visit to the Docklands. "I was really pleased with my result, it's my first Olympic distance since March so I think I coped quite well. "I've only been doing triathlon for a year and a half, and only for a year seriously, so I'm really pleased with what I did."
