First win of season for Herridge

Triathlete Sam Herridge
Herridge posted the fastest female split times

Guernsey triathlete Sam Herridge recorded her first win in the female section triathlon this season with a 10th finish at Helston on 11 May.

Herridge finished in one hour, 12 minutes and 11 seconds, eight minutes ahead of her nearest rival in a field of more than 220 competitors.

She also posted the fastest split times for all three disciplines in the women's event.

Herridge said: "I was just pleased to be getting out there and racing again."

The sprint triathlon consisted of a 400m pool swim, a 16.5 mile cycle and a 3.5 mile cross-country run.

"This was my first event of the season after a fairly heavy period of training.

"It's been a long winter with plenty of rehabilitation training - but everything just felt really smooth and strong - a great confidence booster that everything, fingers crossed, seems to be going in the right direction and is working properly," Herridge added.
