Smith recorded one of the fastest splits of the day

Dan Smith recorded one of the fastest splits of the day in the run as he overtook Steve Smith to win the Guernsey Novice Triathlon.

Dan Smith was only 30 seconds behind as they left the water and although Steve Smith built a lead on the bikes, it was not enough to keep him in front.

The course, starting at Beau Sejour, included a 400m swim, an eight mile cycle and a two mile run.

Karina Bowie won the women's event and Alex Falla took the junior title.
