Drinkhall and the British team will now set their sights on 2012 |
British 18-year-old Paul Drinkhall has failed to qualify for the 2008 Olympic table tennis event in Beijing. Drinkhall had been aiming to reach the Games via the final world selection tournament, held in Budapest, Hungary. But the teenager was knocked out by Spain's Alfredo Carneros in four straight sets on the second day. Kelly Sibley reached the fourth day of the competition to earn a place on the Olympic reserve list, but GB can expect no representation at the Games. No Briton has won a medal since table tennis became part of the Olympic programme in 1988. Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory.
