Jersey finished bottom of their group in the World Table Tennis Championships after losing all of their matches.

Josh Band, 14, Luke Walker, 15, Chris Corfield, 17, and Craig Gascoyne, 25, were representing Jersey in Division Four at the event in Guangzhou, China.

They lost matches to familiar rivals Guernsey as well as Iraq, Iceland and African countries Congo and Benin.

They will now face play-offs to decide their final position amongst the 104 teams competing.

Despite being defeated by every country in the group there were some individual successes for Jersey, when players picked up a handful of rubbers along the way.

Jersey's final match of the group stage, to decide the wooden spoon, went down to the wire, with Iceland eventually winning 3-2.

Guernsey finished third in the group, winning three of their five matches.
