Patten takes Great North Swim win

Patten won a bronze medal in the 10km open water event in Beijing

Liskeard-born swimmer Cassie Patten has followed up her 10km open water Olympic bronze medal by winning the first ever Great North Swim on Lake Windermere.

Patten beat a field of more than 2,200 swimmers as she completed the one-mile course in 18 minutes and 21.49 seconds.

Patten's Stockport Metro team-mate and Beijing silver medallist Keri-Anne Payne finished second in 18:21.83.

Wigan's Jennifer Jackson was third in 18:23.84 and Team Bath's Jodie Swallow claimed fourth place in 18:24.34.
