Video - Kitajima wins 200m breaststroke gold

Japan's Kosuke Kitajima claimed his second gold medal of the Beijing Olympics with victory in the 200m breaststroke final.

The 25-year-old won in an Olympic record time of 2mins 7.64secs to add the 200m to the 100m breaststroke title he won on Monday.

Kitajima repeated the feat he achieved in Athens four years ago when he won the 100m and 200m breaststroke double.

Australia's Brenton Rickard won silver with France's Hughes Duboscq in third.

Kitajima is establishing himself as the greatest breaststroke swimmer of all time having dominated the event over the past four years.

The Tokyo born 25-year-old only missed out on beating his own world record by 0.13 secs.

"I'm very relieved that I got the gold medal," Kitajima said.

"I was going OK until the last 50 metres, and then I ran low on energy, but it was a good swim and I am pleased with the time."
