Video - Pellegrini wins gold for Italy

Italy's Federica Pellegrini broke her own 200m freestyle world record to claim gold in a new all-time best of one minute 54.82 seconds.

Pellegrini, who initially broke the record during Monday's heats in a time of 1:55.45, started incredibly quickly.

She slowed in the final 50m but held on despite the challenge of Slovenia's Sara Isakovic, who took silver, and Chinese bronze medallist Pang Jiaying.

Britain's Caitlin McClatchey finished sixth in a time of 1:57.65.

"It was a bonus to make that final since I wasn't ranked in the top 10 this year," McClatchey told BBC Sport. "That was just fantastic."
