McClatchey won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games |
Scotland's Caitlin McClatchey aims to bulk up after finishing seventh in the 200m freestyle final at the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne. The double Commonwealth champion finished well behind France's Laure Manaudou who smashed the world record to claim the gold medal in 1:55.52.
"I know what I need to do to give me a chance of competing," said McClatchey.
"I'll be looking at my volumes in training and also a weights programme to add more muscle."
McClatchey finished in 1:59.28, almost two seconds off her qualifying time.
"I got caught out by the waves produced by the other girls," she said.
"I'm not the biggest of swimmers and those girls got ahead of me and I got caught in their wash."
Manaudou, who won the 400m freestyle gold on Sunday, finished ahead of Annika Lurz of Germany and Italy's Federica Pellegrini.
The bronze medallist had set a new record time in qualifying.
"I'm disappointed with my time as I wanted to go quicker," added McClatchey.
"We saw a world record in the semi-finals and a world record in the final so it's moving on rapidly and I need to make sure I follow that."
