Olympic finalist Darren Mew has joined the new Ellesmere Titans swimming club as a breaststroke consultant.

Mew - a 100m breaststroke specialist who starred at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens - will assist in poolside coaching and training strategies.

"I'm delighted to be involved with the highly talented young swimmers the club has brought together," said Mew.

Titans coach Jon Pardoe added: "The swimmers will really benefit from one of the best breaststrokers around."

The club include Annie Mellings, who won the Under-11 Girls' 200m breaststroke gold and Alfie Pardoe who won the Under-10 Boys' 200m breaststroke gold medal at this year's Shropshire Championships.
