Young swimmers mark the opening of Ellesmere Titans

Young swimmers in north Shropshire are being drawn together by ambitious new club, the Ellesmere Titans.

The aim is to allow the area's top young talent to swim competitively and fulfil their potential.

Annie Mellings, aged 12, who is the Shropshire 200m breaststroke champion, said: "The birth of the Titans is a real opportunity for me."

Jamie Thomas, 10, added: "Being with so many other talented swimmers can only make me more determined."

The Titans Swimming Club is based at Ellesmere College, but is open to all.

"Everyone in the new club is on cloud nine with excitement," said coach Jon Pardoe.

"We've successfully managed to put together some of the best young swimmers in Shropshire with superb facilities and some of the best coaching resources available anywhere.

"The opportunities are endless."
