Video - Faulds disappoints in trap final British shooter Richard Faulds failed to win a second Olympic medal after finishing sixth in the final of the men's double trap in Beijing. The 31-year-old, a gold medallist in Sydney eight years ago, fell four shots short of a medal position with a final score of 180. American Walton Eller won gold after a fine display which saw him finish with 190 successful shots out of 200. Italy's Francesco D'Aniello claimed silver with China's Hu Binyuan third. Eller, a 26-year-old deer hunter from Texas, finished 17th in the Athens Olympics in 2004 after suffering with a pinched neck before the Games. But in Beijing, he finished ahead of a strong field that included two Olympic champions, in Aussie veteran Russell Mark and Faulds, plus 2007 world champion D'Aniello. "I knew if I tried my best I'd win it," Eller said. "So far this is the highlight but I hope there's more to come. | 606: DEBATE | "It feels awesome. I was actually glad to have made the final for the first time after missing out at Sydney and Athens, so to win the gold is amazing. "The big guns were out there. You try not to look, but I knew they were not missing many." Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory. Video - Silver win too much for Italian Faulds was always facing a tough battle to claim a medal position after qualifying in fifth place with a score of 137, eight behind morning-leader Eller. He did make a fine start though, hitting his first 12 traps to move closer to the medal spots, while American Jeffrey Holguin, who started third, slipped up. But as his aim faltered, Holguin took advantage to take fourth while Mark snatched fifth when Faulds missed with both of his final two shots. "There was such a large gap going into the final that I thought only the bronze or silver were within my reach," said Faulds. "I tried my best and got as far as I could."
