Naval officer Reed did not start rowing until 2001 |
Nailsworth's Peter Reed says the relief of winning an Olympic gold medal is still with him 48 hours after the race. Reed was in the coxless four's boat that produced a perfectly-timed finish to edge out Australia at Shenyi. Reed told the BBC: "It's very difficult to hide your emotions. We'd had a big week and a big build-up. "We've seen each other seven days a week for four years. There are a lot of ups and downs in rowing and it was just great to get it sorted out."
