Gloucester open day is called off

Gloucester have had to cancel their planned open day on Bank Holiday Monday because of the wet weather.

The decision has been taken to prevent damage to the Kingsholm playing surface with more rain forecast.

Head of marketing Pete Grzonka told BBC Gloucestershire: "While the pitch is in great nick it isn't going to stand up to 4,000 people walking on it.

"The pitch has to come first because it is our bread and butter. With the pitch out of order we had no other option."
