France crushed Poland 45-29 to defend their Olympic men's epee team title. Jerome Jeannet, Fabrice Jeannet and Ulrich Robeiri were in great form for the French, with individual silver medallist Fabrice leading the way. He won five straight points against Radoslaw Zawrotniak to put France 30-14 ahead and then struck the winning blow as he outscored his opponents 17-7. Italy, who won the title in 1996 and 2000, beat China 45-35 to finish with the bronze medal.
