Daley won gold at the European Championships in Holland |
Teenage diving star Tom Daley says he is not expecting to win a medal at the Beijing Olympics despite his success at the European Championships. Daley won the 10m platform title in Eindhoven on Monday against much more experienced opposition. But the 13-year-old said his focus was still on the London Olympics in 2012. "We'll have to wait and see what happens in Beijing. I'm going there for the experience and I'll be going to win medals in London," he said. "I know I can improve and be better and I know I can become more consistent. "But I'm not expecting a medal in Beijing, I've just got to get ready for London 2012." Daley produced flawless dives in rounds four and five in Eindhoven, each earning four marks of 10 from the judges. His final round dive was less impressive but he had done enough to hold off Germany's Sascha Klein and Italy's Francesco Dell'Uomo. "I was really nervous before but when I found out it was enough I was really happy," said Daley. He will become the second-youngest male Olympian in British history after qualifying for Beijing Tom Daley is one of the athletes BBC Sport is following as part of the Olympics Dreams series.
