Jackson wins 200m freestyle gold
Jo Jackson added a Commonwealth record to the world record she set on Monday when she won the 200m freestyle at the British Swimming Championships.
The 22-year-old recorded a time of 1:56.47 to win the event and add the record to her 400m world milestone.
"I'd have loved to have gone quicker but it wasn't there so I'll have do more work for next time," she said.
Rebecca Adlington pulled out of the 200m earlier in the day to concentrate on Thursday's 800m freestyle.
Former world silver medallist James Gibson booked his spot for Rome when he won the 100m breaststroke.
Craig Elliott became only the second swimmer to fall foul of new rules barring the wearing of two swimming suits when he was disqualified from the race.
The swimmer's coach Paul Hogg explained: "Craig has never swum in just leggings before and felt before the race they were rubbing so he put on an old pair of training trunks.
"He is obviously very upset and will be swimming in trunks tomorrow."
Loughborough's Kate Haywood was an emphatic winner of the women's 100m breaststroke in 1:08.59.
James Goddard was narrowly outside his own Commonwealth record in the 200m individual medley in 1:57.99 while Ross Davenport just missed the national record as he successfully defended his 200m freestyle title in 1:46.50.
