Ross Carr saw his Down side fight back to earn a replay |
Down manager Ross Carr was pleased with the contribution of his substitutes in the Ulster SFC draw with Tryone. Ambrose Rodgers grabbed a goal and a point while Paul Murphy and Paul McComiskey were also on the scoresheet. "All the substitutes did well when they came on and I'm delighted they made such a change," said Carr. "From a purists point of view it was a poor match - the ball handling, shot selection and distribution was poor although it led to an exciting game." He added: "It wasn't that the players I took off weren't playing well, I just felt we needed fresh legs on the pitch." His Tyrone counterpart Mickey Harte was upbeat despite his side throwing away a seven-point lead. "It was a wonderful game and we looked to be in an unassailable position at one stage," he said. "Down came back and grabbed their chance and we knew the battle was on at half-time. "The game should bring both teams on and I'm looking forward to the replay. "It was great to see some of our seasoned and experienced players hanging in there when required. "We have another chance and whoever wins after two games deserves it."
