Portaferry clinch Down SFC title
Paul Braniff
Paul Braniff was in fine form for Portaferry
Portaferry won the Down senior hurling title for the first time since 2002 by beating Ballycran at Ballygalget.

The early part of the game was evenly matched but a goal from John Convery and seven points by Paul Braniff earned Portaferry a 1-9 to 0-8 half-time lead.

Colm McManus missed a penalty while Simon Wilson was in inspirational form.

Ballycran fought back to level the match at 0-14 to 1-11 but four unanswered points saw Portaferry run out four point winners.

Portaferry goalkeeper Karl Keating made four brilliant saves which denied certain goals.
