Down county champions Mayobridge edged out Kilcoo by 0-13 to 1-09 in Sunday's semi-final at Clonduff Park, Hilltown.

Mayobridge's half-forward line of Ronan Sexton, Noel Sexton and Benny Coulter all contributed two points each as the holders scraped through.

Burren will be their opponents in the 8 October final in Newcastle.

Seeking their first title since 1997, Burren defeated Clonduff 1-11 to 0-11 at Castlewellan on Saturday with Kevin McGivern getting the goal.

Ballygalget's reign as Down and Ulster Hurling Champions ended when they were beaten 1-15 to 1-10 by Portaferry in the Down semi-finals on Saturday.

Paul Braniff hit 1-6 for Ferry against a Galget side that were without injured Martin Coulter and Emmett Dorrian.

Gareth Johnson, just back from Chicago, didn't start for Ballygalget but he was introduced during the first half.

Portaferry led 1-8 to 1-6 at half-time and the match remained tight for most of the second half.

A Barry Coulter point narrowed Portaferry's lead to the minimum (1-9 to 1-8) with just over 10 minutes left but late points from Gerard McGrattan, Rory McGrattan Emmett Trainor helped Portaferry pull clear in the closing stages.

Ballygalget Liam Clarke was sent off in injury-time after an off-the-ball incident.
