Martin Clarke travelled to Australia for an AFL club trial |
Down's All-Ireland minor winning player Martin Clarke has yet to decide whether to accept the offer a professional contract with top AFL side Collingwood. The 18-year-old has been offered a professional deal by the Australian Rules outfit after impressing the club in a five-week trial Down Under.
However reports that Clarke has already signed a contract are premature.
Clarke will play for An Riocht in next week's Down Football Championship game against Bryansford.
The Down underage star underwent tests for speed skills and fitness at Loughborough University before being invited to spend five weeks Down Under.
Laois' Colm Begley and Cork hurler Setanta O hAilpin have been recent Irish recruits to Aussie Rules while former Kerry player Tadgh Kennelly has already established himself in the AFL code.
