Holders Mayobridge beat Longstone 2-11 to 0-08 in the first round in Newcastle on Saturday.

In Saturday's other game, Loughinisland defeated Ballyholland 3-14 to 1-9.

Bryansford beat An Riocht 1-12 to 0-7 in Ballymartin on Friday night, Gerard Morgan scoring the goal on 18 minutes.

Clonduff got over the first hurdle for the first time in three years when they defeated Annaclone by six points, 2-11 to 1-8, at Mayobridge.

Jason Brown and Tom Fagan were the goalscorers for Clonduff with Aidan Fagan finding the net for Annaclone.

Meanwhile in the league section of the Cavan Football Championship on Sunday, holders Cavan Gaels thumped Killygarry 4-12 to 0-8 while the beaten finalists of the last three years Mullahoran hammered Drumgoon 4-14 to 0-7.

Mullahoran are managed by former Armagh defender Justin McNulty this season.
