Kennelly helped Sydney Swans win the AFL Premiership last month |
Australian Rules star Tadgh Kennelly has been ruled out of Ireland's squad for the International Rules tour later this month. The Kerryman, who helped the Sydney Swans claim the AFL Premiership title last month, will miss out because of an ankle injury.
Irish manager Peter McGrath will name his 26-man squad on Monday.
The Irish squad is expected to have a healthy Tyrone input despite the county's All-Ireland exertions.
Seven of Tyrone's All-Ireland winners were included in the initial provisional panel.
They were Sean Cavanagh, Brian Dooher, Philip Jordan, Ryan McMenamin, Owen Mulligan, Brian McGuigan and Stephen O'Neill.
Kerry full-back Michael McCarthy will not be in contention for the trip Down Under after pulling out of the provisional squad for personal reasons while Armagh trio Paul McGrane, Stephen McDonnell and Andy Mallon also asked not to be considered.
Armagh duo Ronan Clarke and Paul Hearty plus Down men Benny Coulter and Mickey McVeigh and Derrymen Sean Lockhart and Paddy Bradley are also hoping to make the 26-man squad.
The first Test will be played on 21 October in Perth and the second a week later in Melbourne.
