Walsh blow for Down

Down's Michael Walsh has been ruled out of the remainder of this year's Championship because of a knee injury.

Walsh requires surgery to repair a cruciate ligament.

Sean Ward could come into contention for a place on the Down bench in Sunday's replay against Cavan as he is recovering from an ankle injury.

Ronan Murtagh may also make the bench as he has completed the 12-week suspension picked up during the National League.

Meanwhile, Cavan boss Eamon Coleman has dismissed claims from former Breffni boss Martin McHugh that Dermot McCabe and Nicholas Walsh will tog out in Sunday's replay.

"I can guarantee him that wherever he got his facts, they're not right. Dermot will probably not be involved and Nicholas Walsh has no chance," insisted Coleman.
