Replay throw-in time confirmed
Mickey Harte described much of the game as a nightmare

Sunday's Ulster Football Final replay at Clones will have a 1430 BST start.

The Ulster Council confirmed the start time on Monday morning.

Down officials have confirmed that they will seek a quick Games Adminstration Committee meeting in the hope that Gregory McCartan's red-hard in Sunday's match will be overturned.

McCartan was dismissed by referee Aidan Mangan after throwing the ball at the face of Brian McGuigan.

Many felt that McCartan's sending-off was harsh and Down will hope that the GAC take this view.

If McCartan was to be given a four-week ban he could miss up to three Championship games with the Ulster replay, the last qualifying round and the All-Ireland Quarter-Finals scheduled within the next month.

Meanwhile, Tyrone boss Mickey Harte is mightily relieved that his team managed to earn Sunday's replay chance.

Harte described much of the game as "a nightmare" and admitted he thought the game was up for his team when Down went nine points ahead early in the second half.

"We knew the goal just before half-time was an awfully dangerous time to concede and as often happens, Down lost a man and happened to raise their game," said Harte.

"It certainly didn't look pretty for us when they hit the two goals after half-time but nobody can say now that Tyrone haven't got fight.

"We're not pleased that we conceded four goals but we're damn pleased that we're still in this game".

Harte insisted that Down's vigorous display had been "no surprise".

"At 3-8 to 0-8 with Down having the wind in their sails at that stage, it looked a hopeless cause and I'm so pleased that our boys kept battling.

"To win things you've got to come back from the dead sometimes and Tyrone came back from the dead not once but twice today".

Harte paid tribute to Peter Canavan who produced another tremendous display less than a week after his father's funeral.

"When we needed an outlet that you were sure of, Peter was there.

"Fair play to him after the week he came through with the trauma of him losing his father.

"It's a credit to him and all the players that they did such a good job".

The Tyrone boss added that Ger Cavlan and Colin Holmes who were late cry-offs for Sunday's game may not be fit for the replay.

Down boss Paddy O'Rourke described the match as a "rollercoaster".

"We're probably disappointed because when you score four goals you feel you should win the game," he acknowledged.

I felt we had enough scores on the board to win but we'll regroup for next Sunday
Paddy O'Rourke

"When we scored the fourth goal I thought we had the game won but Tyrone are a very good side and fought back.

"Nobody had given us much of a chance but we had a real go at it.

"I'm very proud of the boys. I feel that we should have won it but we'll look forward to next Sunday".

The Down boss said Dan Gordon's impressive two-goal display had been "no surprise".

"He's a super footballer who can play in midfield or full-forward.

"He's a tremendous player and a great lad.

"Benny Coulter was super again today but we were disappointed to lose Gregory McCartan.

"Gregory is the leader and out on a big pitch like Clones, it's maybe going to catch up with you late in the game when you are a man down.

"I felt we had enough scores on the board to win but we'll regroup for next Sunday".
