Damian McDermott hit 2-3 for Tyrone in the decider |
Tyrone 3-9 0-9 Fermanagh
Tyrone claimed a comfortable success in Sunday's Ulster Minor Football final against Fermanagh.
Two first half goals from star forward Damian McDermott put Tyrone on the way to their 18th provincial minor title.
Fermanagh, who were aiming to win their first Ulster minor title, will look back to two missed goal chances early on.
McDermott and Raymond Mulgrew points had put Tyrone into an early advantage but Richard McCaffrey then had a great goal chance for Fermanagh only for his shot to hit the woodwork.
A couple of minutes later, Shane O'Brien then hit the woodwork from pointblank range and while Richard McCaffrey struck the rebound to the net, the effort was controversially ruled out for a square ball.
In contrast, Tyrone's goal-taking was clinical with McDermott's two first half efforts helping the Red Hand County to a 2-6 to 0-3 half-time lead.
McDermott's second goal had a hint of square ball about it but unlike the earlier Fermanagh effort, the three-pointer was allowed to stand.
Damien Meenan hit Tyrone's third goal in the second half.
Despite the defeat, Fermanagh are still not out of the championship as they now go through to an All-Ireland Qualifier.
