Down have received a boost ahead of Sunday's Ulster Final against Tyrone with the news that Gregory McCartan has won the Ulster GAA writers monthly merit award for June.
McCartan collected the award for his outstanding performances against Monaghan and Fermanagh in the Ulster Championship.
In the Monaghan match he scored four points in a man-of-the-match display while he hit 1-4 against Fermanagh.
Meanwhile, there are doubts over the fitness of Tyrone full-back Colin Holmes and half-forward Gerard Cavlan for Sunday's Ulster decider.
If Holmes is ruled out, Chris Lawn will probably move to full-back while Mark Harte could be in contention to replace Cavlan.
