Midfielder Anthony Tohill was back in action for Derry |
Derry's Championship prospects have been boosted by the return to action of their four-times All Star Anthony Tohill.
The powerhouse midfielder from Swatragh played for the first half against Mayo in a game organised to mark the opening of a new pitch at Magilligan.
Tohill, who underwent knee surgery late last year, had been undecided about returning to senior county action.
His reappearance in Oak Leaf colours will lift Derry supporters as they look ahead to the big Ulster Championship clash against NFL finalists Tyrone on 18 May.
Derry PRO Gerry Donnelly said the squad had a number of niggling injuries which had prevented some players taking part in full training.
"But if we get a clean bill of health on the day we would put ourselves in with a lively chance of winning the game," said Donnelly.
"Derry against Tyrone is the kind of game where players are prepared to go the extra mile."
