Paul Brewster appeared to land a punch on John Gildea |
Fermanagh footballer Paul Brewster's prospects of lining out against Down in the Bank of Ireland Ulster Football Semi-Final remain unclear.
TV replays caught Brewster landing a blow on John Gildea early in the second half in the win over Donegal but it is still uncertain whether the Games Administration Committee will take any action.
A GAC source hinted last week that officials would study footage of the incident but there has been no official word from Croke Park.
A Croke Park spokeswoman confirmed to BBC Sport Interactive on Tuesday that there had been "no mention" of the incident in the referee's match report.
However, this in itself would not be enough to save Brewster from punishment if the GAC decide to view video evidence and, arising from that, take action against the midfielder.
The next scheduled meeting of the GAC is 16 June while Fermanagh will take on Down in the Ulster semi-final six days later.
Cody dispute
Meanwhile, Kilkenny hurling captain Charlie Carter has caused a sensation by announcing his retirement from the intercounty game.
Carter made the revelation in an interview with Radio Kilkenny on Tuesday morning.
The skipper cited "a lack of appetite" for his decision.
There has been widespread speculation of a dispute between Carter and manager Brian Cody in recent months.
Carter has been left out of the Kilkenny starting line-up in recent matches and didn't line out against Dublin last weekend despite scoring two goals in the recent National League final win over Tipperary.
The Cats face Wexford in the Leinster final on 6 July.
