Fermanagh earn victory
Fermanagh 0-10 0-06 Donegal

Fermanagh ghosted past Donegal in a dour Ulster Senior Championship quarter-final tie at Brewster Park.

Stephen Maguire fires over a point near the end despite the attention of Brian Roper
Fermanagh 0-10
R McCabe 4 (2F)
R Gallagher 4 (1F)
S Maguire 2
Donegal 0-06
A Sweeney 4 (3F)
Roper 1
McFadden 1

Ronan McCabe and Raymond Gallagher both grabbed four points apiece with Stephen Maguire also pitching in with a couple of points.

Donegal found the going tough and could only find target through four Adrian Sweeney points and one each from Colm McFadden and Brian Roper.

Following the loss of some experienced players, Fermanagh boss gamble of tossing in youngsters certainly paid off.

However, it was a game best forgotten about with little flowing play and a plethora of shots off target.

Fermanagh were the biggest culprits in this area. Despite their dominance, they could only manage to turn around 0-6 to 0-4 ahead at the break.

In all they hit 12 wides while Donegal mis-fired seven times. In the end both sides were reduced to 14 men with Donegal's Brian Roper following Fermanagh's Colm Bradley for an early bath after two yellow cards.

Bradley had come into the side following the expected withdrawal of Fermanagh free-kicker Tom Brewster who was injured in training on Friday evening.

Donegal for their part lost their inspirational attacker Brendan Devenney who limped out of the game in the 11th minute.

Fermanagh, however, got off to a flyer with McCabe almost scoring a goal with his first touch.

His shot rebounded off the upright and he gathered the rebound to grab his first point.

It was nip and tuck for most of the opening period before the Ernemen took the game by the scruff of the neck from the 30th minute.

Paul Brewster was lucky to stay on the park following the throw-in at the second half when he appeared to flatten John Gildea with a right hook.

Wides came and went, however, as the game failed to arise above the mediocre.

In the end Dom Corrigan's men venture into the Ulster semi-final with something to spare while Donegal are left attempting to keep their season going through the back door.
