Dominc McKinlay's Derry will travel to play New York |
Derry 0-11 Laois 1-16
Derry's farewell game in Division One of the Allianz National Hurling League ended in defeat to Laois at Celtic Park on Saturday.
The Red Hands, hit by a number of injuries, went down by an eight-point margin to Paddie Butler's side who had already made sure of staying in the top flight.
It has been a difficult season for Derry manager Dominic McKinlay with injuries and loss of form thwarting hopes ot a good NHL campaign.
Derry lost all five games in the first series and this latest reverse was their third defeat out of three in the second series.
Now McKinlay turns his attention to a potentially tricky Ulster Championship game against New York on 11 May.
