Derry kept alive their hopes of a place in the Division One final with a 0-14 to 0-10 win over Tyrone at Celtic Park.

The teams traded points early on before Derry nudged ahead 0-6 to 0-5 but Tyrone led 0-7 to 0-6 at the interval.

The Oak Leafers fought back with Paddy Bradley scoring crucial points and were 0-12 to 0-9 in front late in the game.

Tyrone scored only three points in the second half and late points from Bradley, one from a free, saw Derry join Galway at the top of the table.

Conleth Gilligan and Bradley put Derry two points ahead early in the game but Niall Gormley, Colm McCullagh and Colly Holmes replied with points for the visitors.

Mark Lynch restored parity and then Bradley and Gilligan were on target again to restore their side's two-point advantage.

Barry McGoldrick and Philip Jordan traded points, before a Sean Cavanagh free brought the Red Hands to within a point of their Ulster rivals.

Frees from McCullagh and Tommy McGuigan earned Tyrone that narrow one-point lead at half-time.

Raymond Mulgrew scored the first point of the second half but Paddy Bradley with two points and one from Eoin Bradley saw the lead change hands again.

McGuigan then scored his second point of the game, but Paddy Bradley responded and Gilligan added another for Derry.

James Conway then got on the scoreboard, McGuigan grabbed his third point and Bradley took his tally to 0-7 to seal victory.

Derry now head Division One on points difference from Galway and Kerry.
