Adrian Archibald has backed the condensing of the Dundrod events |
The Ulster Grand Prix and Dundrod 150 will take place in a three-day period next August.
Organisers the Dundrod Club believe the decision to condense the two events will help to secure the future of both meetings.
The Dundrod 150 will take place on Thursday 19 August with the Ulster Grand Prix following two days later.
Traditionally, the Dundrod 150 has taken place in June with the Grand Prix meeting following two months later.
Dundrod club officials believe the move will boost the entry for both events while it mean that disruption for local residents will be confined to one four-day period with practice beginning on the Wednesday.
It is also hoped that the decision will enable Lisburn City Council to put more investment into the event.
Top local racer Adrian Archibald has backed the move.
"It will give me vital breathing space after the Isle of Man TT," said the Ballymoney man.
"This year I was physically and mentally drained going into the Dundrod 150 in mid-June".
