Marty Tabb's Cliftonville lost 1-0 at home to Crusaders |
Under-fire manager Marty Tabb has appealed to Cliftonville supporters to get off his back and behind his players. The Reds have not won a game since before Christmas and boss Tabb came in from stick from fans after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Crusaders in the north Belfast derby.
Tabb indicated he would consider resigning after just one season in charge if the verbal abuse did not stop.
"I gave everything to the club as a player but the supporters seem to have forgotten this," said Tabb, the NIFWA player of the year in Cliftonville's 1998 championship-winning season.
"I am bitterly disappointed for the fans but I am also upset some of them seem to have had it in for me since I took charge here.
"I have given the players a roasting but they might play better if the fans stayed united behind them and me."
Tabb added: "It remains to be seen of I will be the manager here next season."
Earlier in the campaign, Cliftonville had been on target to finish in the top half of the Premier Division.
But they have picked up just five points from a depressing 13-match run without a league victory.
When the Premier League splits on 29 March, Cliftonville will finish their campaign with matches against the other five teams in the bottom half of the division.
